FAQ (general guidance)
How often should a septic tank be pumped?
Most household tanks are pumped every 3–5 years, depending on tank size, household size and water use. Aerobic systems in Texas also require a maintenance contract with regular inspections. Ask a licensed provider for your system.
Signs of septic failure
Slow drains or gurgling plumbing, sewage odors, soggy or unusually green grass over the drain field, sewage backups, or an aerobic alarm going off. Call a professional promptly; don't open tanks yourself.
How often should well water be tested?
Common guidance (e.g. EPA/CDC) is to test private wells at least once a year for coliform bacteria, nitrates, pH and TDS, and again after flooding, repairs, or any change in taste, smell or color. Testing is also standard when buying a home with a well.
